The Hawaiian Islands are one of those dream destinations, boasting jaw-dropping sceneries, perfect beaches, and unique culture.
These ten places are well worth seeing to appreciate some of the island's finest sights.
#1 Waikiki Beach, Oahu
Waikiki Beach oozes Hawaiian luxury and chill. This Honolulu area is known for calm waves, beautiful views of Diamond Head, and world-class hotels and restaurants. It is a blend of old Hawaiian culture and a sprinkling of modern enhancements. My favorite time of year to go there is when all the Christmas decorations are lining the street. It is so gorgeous and really gets you in the holiday spirit!
#2 Pearl Harbor National Memorial, Oahu
Pearl Harbor National Memorial is a site where people commemorate what happened during the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The memorial honors those who sacrificed and demonstrated the courage of fighting men and women in this country. A trip here is both informative and emotionally impactful. If you love history, then you have to visit Pearl Harbor.
#3 Haleakalā National Park, Maui
Nothing compares to seeing a sunrise atop the "House of the Sun," Haleakalā. The crater's unique landscapes make you feel as if you're visiting another world. The volcano has hiking trails, rare flora and fauna, and dramatic views. It is also very cold at the top, so pack a sweater!
#4 Road to Hana, Maui
The Road to Hana is a famous stunning long stretch of scenic driving on the eastern side of Maui. This area features waterfalls, rainforests, and bamboo groves, all of which offer stunning vistas. The road is quite curvy, so be prepared!
Remember to pull into Wailua Falls and Ohe'o'Seven Sacred Pools, two of the island's most gorgeous photo wing spots. But, my favorite spot in Hana is red sand beach. I love the way the red rock and sand contrasts against that gorgeous Hawaiian blue water!
#5 Na Pali Coast, Kauai
Spectacular ridged cliffs, secret beaches, and bright green valleys might just bring you to tears, like it did me. It is breathtaking! Experienced hikers, however, can enjoy unbeatable scenery by taking the trail (permit required). The challenging Kalalau Trail is best for those prepared with plenty of drinking water on hand, comfy shoes and a sense of adventure!
#6 Waimea Canyon, Kauai
Known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific," Waimea Canyon offers miles and miles of brilliant red and green layer upon layer of rock. Stunning views and beautiful hiking trails provide memories that will never fade. You will be treated to views of MANY waterfalls. I LOVE this canyon!
#7 Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, Big Island
The area features Kilauea and Mauna Loa, the most active volcano on Earth." This National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can walk across a lava field, explore lava tubes, and see the destructive volcanic force of nature in action-reminder of the raw energy of nature. We even got to see the red hot lava flowing at sunrise. That was such a site to see and I loved every moment shivering in the cold while watching it’s deep embers flow.
#8 Akaka Falls State Park, Big Island
An easy jaunt through verdant jungle opens to 442-foot Akaka Falls, a showering cascade that defines the tropics. There are some scenic viewpoints in the park, getting ideal photos. This part of the island is so lush!
#9 Oahu's Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve
Hanauma Bay is a nature preserve and marine sanctuary where you go to snorkel and see many beautiful fish and other marine life. Colorful coral reefs, tropical fish, and green sea turtles will delight you. Make sure you take a good camera to get some great underwater photos!
#10 Molokini Crater, Maui
Molokini is a famous crescent-shaped volcanic crater with clear water south of the Maui coast. Just below the surface lies one of the best places to snorkel and dive, full of marine life and with visibility of up to 150 feet (46 m). If you love turtles…this is for you! We are going to be snorkeling here in a few weeks, and I am so excited!
